What we do during a diagnostics visit

We use the same kind of professional diagnostic equipment that many garages rely on, but our focus is simple: give you a clear, independent picture of what your car is telling us so you can decide what to do next.

Full system scan

We scan all available systems on the vehicle, not just the engine. That can include ABS, airbag, power steering, body control and more, depending on the car.

Live data and symptom checks

Where needed, we look at live data and link it to the symptoms you are seeing. This helps to separate one off glitches from genuine underlying problems.

Clear diagnostic report

You get a copy of the report and we talk through the results with you in plain language. The report is yours to keep and to use with any garage you choose.

Independent advice, no workshop upsell

Our product is the diagnostic report and our time. We are not trying to sell repair work on the back of a fault code, so our advice is focused on what is best for you and the car.

Many garages are excellent and completely honest, and a lot of people are very happy using a trusted local workshop. Our service is simply different.

We charge a fixed fee for diagnostics and, in most cases, we can give you the answers you need before you commit to any repair work. You always receive a copy of the report, and we take the time to talk through what it means.

With that report in your hand you can shop around and have an informed conversation with any garage you choose. You know what fault codes were present, when they were captured and what systems are affected.

When a car goes straight into a workshop, some garages will be just as transparent and share everything. Others may not provide the same level of detail, and once the vehicle is already in pieces it can be hard to say no. By separating diagnosis from repair, you stay in control of what happens next.

How the mobile diagnostics service works

We come to you at a time that fits your day. Home, office, gym, hairdresser car park, or almost anywhere else within our service area, as long as the vehicle is accessible and parked safely.

Step 2: On site diagnostics

We attend with the diagnostic equipment, run the scan, review live data where needed and capture the results into a report.

Step 3: Report and next steps

We walk you through the findings, explain what the codes mean and discuss likely next steps. You then decide how and where to tackle any repair work.

Second opinion diagnostics for peace of mind

If you have already been given a diagnosis or repair quote and want a second opinion, we can help. Sometimes a fresh set of eyes, a different tool and a clear report are all you need to feel confident about a big spend.

We will carry out our own diagnostics, review the codes and data and then explain how that lines up with the work you have been quoted for. You may end up deciding to go ahead with exactly what was suggested, or you may choose to ask more questions or get another quote.

Either way, you will be making that decision with a clear, independent report and someone who has no interest in selling the repair work afterwards.

Important note about faults and timing
We stand by our equipment, processes and reports, but vehicle diagnostics is not always an exact science. Faults can develop, clear or change between our visit and a later visit to a garage, especially when they are intermittent.

Our report gives you a solid, independent snapshot of the car at the time of testing. It is a useful tool for discussion and decision making, but it cannot guarantee how a fault will behave in the future.
